Deuteronomy concludes the Pentateuch, or the five books of Moses, that begins the Old Testament. In this adult bible study on Deuteronomy, renowned Old Testament scholar Gene March leads participants through the book, reviewing some of the primary themes, and reflecting on how these were used in interpreting Israel's history. Deuteronomy is structured as three sermons by Moses. This study's two sessions examine the second sermon (4:44-11:32), which discusses the covenant God made with Israel and the Ten Commandments, as well as chapters 12-28, referred to as the book of the law.

W. Eugene March is A. B. Rhodes Professor of Old Testament Emeritus at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is the author or coauthor of a number of books, including Israel and the Politics of Land and God's Land on Loan, both published by WJK.
